The deity depicting Lord Mahadeva immersed in deep meditation wearing the deer on the upper-left arm and the axe of stone on the upper-right arm while on his lower arms, the abhaya and varada mudras. The other deities associated to the principal deity are Lord Ganesha, Lord Sastha, Lord Subrahmanya and Lord Anjaneya apart from the Nagas, Brahmarakshassu and Yatheeswara.While the preservation of this ancient temple is in the hands of Archaeological Survey of India, the administration and everyday business are under the governance of Malabar Devaswom Board. 'Thiruvathira' during the Dhanu Masa of Malayalam calendar and Maha Sivarathri are the key festivals celebrated in this temple.
