The Temple, which is situated on the banks of Holy River Periyar, has got its own ancient history of more than 5000 years. The wonderful feature of this temple is its majestic "Sanctum Sanctorum" and the gigantic Shiva Lingam. Lord Shiva; in the form of "Kiratha" with his consort Sri Parvathi,who gives his blessing to arjuna by offering him the powerful "Pashupatastra" resides in the sanctum as "Ardha Nareeswara"(Half Shiva ; Half Parvathi). On the Southern Side of Shiva parvathi there is Lord Ganesha and Dakshina Moorthy. Outside;Eastern side there is the sanctum of Sri Dharma Shastha and in Northern Side Maha Vishnu temple situated .The great ambiance of the temple is the symbol of prosperity and progress of village.
